Fall 2012 Grant Cycle

Application Deadline for Phase 1 October 30, 2012

Apply here. Decisions will be announced by December 31, 2012.

Emergency Response Fund

For communities affected by the BP Oil Disaster. We will be accepting applications on a rolling basis, see our section on the Emergency Response Fund for more details.

A. Traditional Panel Process Grant Cycles

The Gulf Coast Fund holds two grant cycles per calendar year.  Applicants are only eligible to receive ONE grant per calendar year through the panel process (this excludes Emergency Grants.)   For example, if you receive a panel process grant in Summer 2011, you are not eligible to reapply until Summer 2012. The panel process cycles follow a uniform process outlined below.

  1. Any organization is welcome to apply.
  2. Each application is reviewed for completion and eligibility by staff.
  3. Applications are assigned to a panel by issue, geography and/or scope.
  4. Advisory Group Members review applications on Panel Calls.
  5. Final recommended applications are review and approved.
  6. Applicants are notified of award status.

B. Discretionary Grants

New Advisory Group Members are allotted $10,000 to award to an organization(s) of their choice, as long as the recipient is in good fiscal standing to accept such a grant.

C. Emergency Grants

Following the devastation of Hurricanes Gustav and Ike in 2008, the Gulf Coast Fund created the Emergency Response Fund.  This is a pool of funding reserved for meeting the immediate needs of Gulf Coast communities in the wake of natural and human-made disasters. Emergency grants are typically $5,000 to $7,000. The application is easy with a quick turnaround time.  Emergency grants do not apply to the rule of one panel process grant per calendar year.

The Gulf Coast Fund is currently offering Emergency Grants in response to the BP Oil Drilling Disaster through our Emergency Response Fund.
