Grants by Funding Cycles

Types of Grants

A. Traditional Panel Process Grant Cycles

The Gulf Coast Fund holds two grant cycles per calendar year. One in the Summer and one in the Winter. These cycles follow a uniform process outline below.

  1. Any organization is welcome to apply.

  2. Each application is reviewed for completion and eligibility by staff.

  3. Applications are assigned to a panel by issue, geography and/or scope.

  4. Advisory Group Members review applications on Panel Calls.

  5. Final recommended applications are review and approved.

  6. Applicants are notified of award status.

B. Discretionary Grants

New Advisory Group Members are allotted $10,000 to award to an organization(s) of their choice, as long as the recipient is in good fiscal standing to accept such a grant.

C. Emergency Grants

In 2008, after Hurricanes Gustav and Ike struck, the Fund created the Gulf Coast Emergency Response Fund an Emergency Grant Cycle to meet the immediate needs of existing grantees. Up to $5,000 can be awarded to an existing grantee in good standing in the event of natural disaster.
